Madrid Puerta de Atocha

Puerta de Atocha is the biggest train station in Madrid and it might be the most awesome station I have ever visited. The building it self consists of several parts. For instance the for the highspeed trains, which was subdivided in an part for arrivals and a part for departures. But there was also an part for regional trains and of course there was a main hall.

Part of the main hall is built inside the old station building. If you’re inside this old building, you don’t feel like being inside a train station. Here you can find a huge botanical garden.

All photos in this post are made from the parking deck for Taxi’s. From here you’re granted with a great view over the new hall, from where all National high speed trains depart to their destinations.
