An unusual sight

This is what I love about discovering new places; the surprises.. Who knew you could ride waves in Barcelona? I did not and honestly I didn’t even expect it. I know that the Mediterranean sea has an reputation of being rough. But never saw waves like these.

The weather that day wasn’t as good as we hoped for. I felt more like Dutch weather. Which could a good explanation for the waves.

Being used to the waves at the beaches near and around the French cities Capbreton, Hossegor and Biarritz, I’d say these waves were rather small. But apparently they were big enough for some wave riding.

But it was an awesome surprise to see so many people out on the water. It was an total chaos, which made it fun to watch. Whenever a good wave came, 3 or 4 surfers tried to take it.

All the pictures in this post are taken on expired Kodak portra 160NC film. This film has had it’s best time and it shows. The levels of grain are quite high and the colors don’t look much better. Maybe it’s getting time to invest in new and fresh film!
